Halloween in Chicago lasts more than one night. It’s several days of spooky-themed parties and celebrations. For the entire month of October, the city is filled with goblins, ghosts, and ghouls. We’ve found the best Halloween parties and events in the South Loop, River North, and downtown Chicago.
With its status as one of the most haunted houses in the world, the South Loop’s Congress Plaza Hotel is a perfect place to celebrate Halloween. Appropriately, they’re hosting the Haunted Halloween Ball the Saturday before the holiday. As you enter the lush ballroom you’ll be greeted by vampire bellmen and served by zombie cocktail servers. Dress up in the most bizarre, outrageous, or risque costume and you could win a prize.
Be surrounded by legendary rock and roll memorabilia as you Party Like a Rockstar at River North’s Hard Rock Cafe. Food and drink are separate, which means tickets are just $15. That makes for a perfect party if you don’t need that open bar and all-you-can-eat buffet. Chicago’s top DJs will be spinning so you can dance the night away.
Why stick to just one bar when you can day drink at several? Start your spooky celebrations early with the Saturday afternoon River North Bar Crawl. You’ll visit multiple bars including some of the hottest spots in the neighborhood, like Joy District, Tunnel, and Hubbard Inn. Tickets include a brunch buffet, gift cards to use on the crawl, costume contests, giveaways, and a whole lot of fun.
For a scary twist, grab some friends and get Trapped in a Room with a Zombie. At this escape game in the Loop’s Fine Arts Building, you and up to eleven others will share a room with a zombie who’s chained to the wall. Every five minutes the creature’s chain will become a little longer, and it’s up to you to escape the room or be eaten alive.
These are just a few of the ways you can celebrate Halloween in the South Loop and downtown Chicago. If you’re scared of missing out on the fun, follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
