Getting into shape can be a struggle. Not only do you have to find the time in your already busy schedule, you also have to find an activity that you’ll want to do multiple times a week. If the idea of traditional workouts is boring to you, you don’t have to suffer. There are classes you can take that are both fun and physically challenging. We’ve found the most interesting workout facilities in the South Loop and River North so you can get in shape and have a great time doing it.
You’ll fly through the air with the greatest of ease with AIR Aerial Fitness. They’ve got locations in both the River North and South Loop neighborhoods. This is a great workout for your core since you lose your stability as soon as you leave the ground. You don’t have to be a trained gymnast to participate, as they’ve got classes for beginners.
If the idea of working out makes you want to climb the walls, head to X-Sport in the South Loop. This comprehensive facility has a climbing wall inside. Since it’s a full-service facility, you can also mix things up with classes. In addition to interval training sessions, they’ve also got TRX and kettlebell classes. After you’re spent, you can relax in the full-service spa.
During the summer months you can head to Maggie Daley Park and take advantage of the outdoor climbing walls. They’re over forty-feet high and cover 19,000 square feet, so you’ll have plenty of room to explore. You’ll have to complete a certification course first, but then you can climb to your heart’s content, although you do have to pay for each session.
There’s no denying that being able to dance on a pole requires some intense physical fitness. Life of a Pole Trick is a Chicago pole dance fitness studio in River North that takes the intimidation factor out of learning something like this because each class is one-on-one. You can bring a friend if you’d like, but there will never be more than three people per session.
If you’re looking for unique ways to get in shape, these classes will fit the bill. For more healthy tips, follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
